agrof’s class 1 unlimited buggy on steroids – building instructions

I finished the building instructions for my buggy motor mod of agrof’s class 1 unlimited buggy. Please note that these are not complete instructions, the aim was to show you the main modifications I made on the car. There’s no part list either this time. I tried to highlight which part/sequence needs to be changed compared to the original build. I was using 2 BuWizz units to power the buggy motors, the units were replacing the seats in the cabin.

Darth Vader’s Lego Technic motorcycle building instructions – 42036+42050

If you remember my Darth’s Angels photo it had 3 custom motorcycles, all of them was a combination of 42036 and 1-2 other Technic sets. As I promised I was preparing the building instructions slowly but surely (bad weather definitely helps), so here is the first one for Darth Vader’s bike:

Lego Technic 42078 Mack Anthem proportions

Last week we received the pictures for the complete Lego Technic lineup for first half of 2018. I have to say I really like the 42078 Mack Anthem truck, it’s got plenty of details, tons of pieces for a fair price and a B model that could easily be an A model on it’s own. I read a lot of complaints (as usual),  and one of them is about the proportions of the truck. I made a quick comparison with the real thing:

Please note that the perspective of the 2 photos is different and it is a very quick and dirty alignment. What I can see from this:

  • on the Lego version the nose is longer and the curve of the bonnet is not that significant
  • the rear wheels are 1-2 studs too close to the front

It is very important too see that this is not a scale model but a Lego Technic interpretation of the Mack Anthem truck, with all the limitations of the system and the available pieces. I think the designers did a very good job, and as always – it’s Lego, you can build it just the way you want 🙂

Lego Technic Baja 1000 – mini version of agrof’s class 1 unlimited buggy

The 50th Score Baja 1000 off-road race starts today, the best way to pay a Lego tribute to this event is to take an RC Technic car outside and see how it performs 🙂

Last week I showed you the BuWizz & buggy motor equipped version of agrof’s Class 1 unlimited buggy. Although the performance was impressive compared to the original with Power Functions, the car was a bit too big and heavy for my taste. I decided to shrink it down proportionally, and this mini version was born. It has smaller wheels, the body is 2 studs narrower, and the overall length is proportionally shorter as well.

The track width did not change as I did not have the proper replacement parts for the steering, I’ll work on this later. The car feels quicker, although due to the smaller wheels some obstacles can be problematic. The color scheme is not the final one, I had to use what I found in my boxes 🙂 I’ll work more on this car later as I really like the sturdiness and the performance. And now, pictures!

agrof’s class 1 unlimited buggy on steroids – Lego Baja 1000 race car with BuWizz & Buggy motors

The 50th Baja 1000 off-road race will take place next week so I wanted to create a Lego tribute video to this fantastic event. The best vehicle to choose was agrof’s class 1 unlimited buggy which is a great build, highly recommended to everyone! As usual I made some modifications, the car is upgraded with 2 buggy motors and 2 BuWizz units. It also has 2 SBricks added so I can swap the BuWizz units with Lego battery boxes. My version lacks the fine details of the original vehicle as I was afraid to loose parts at high speed 🙂

Many thanks to agrof for the opportunity to see his car and for his help making this video.

You can find the original build here with instructions:
https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-4247/agrof/class-1-unlimited-buggy/

You can find below some images of the car and the description of the changes I made.

Obviously the biggest change was to swap the 2 L motors with buggy motors. To integrate the buggy motors I had to rework the rear suspension as well. The IR receivers were replaced with SBricks.

Lego Technic 41999 4×4 Crawler Zombie Hunter mod

This car was created for my Halloween stop motion animation. I had a 41999 black and white replica built from a 9398 set with the big power puller wheels. I also happened to have a big box of Bionicle parts that were ideal to turn the car into a proper zombie hunter. I did not want to modify the original chassis if possible, rather adding some extra functions. I added a spinning blade to the front, alternating side blades powered by an M motor, and a rear spinning swatter / mallet combination powered by another M motor. Here are some additional pictures of the vehicle:

Lego Zombie Hunters – halloween brickfilm

A spooky Lego animation with zombies, vampires, mummies and a heavily armed & customized Lego Technic 41999 4X4 Crawler.

The idea was to use my custom-built Lego Technic 41999 4×4 Crawler and a huge box of Lego Bionicle parts and have some Halloween fun 🙂 There are 3 custom motorized functions on the crawler, the spinning front blades, the alternating side blades and the rear spinning swatter / mallet combination. There are 2 manual spring activated blades in the front as well.

Obviously no Lego zombies were harmed in the making of this video 🙂
