Lego Technic 42069 rc mod with wheels – partial building instructions

Since I received many requests again to provide instructions for the wheeled speed recorder Lego Technic 42069 Extreme Adventure RC mod, I try to help you and took a series of pictures while disassembling the model.

Please note that this video is far from being a complete guide – it shows how to build the 2 axles with the 4 buggy motors.

Fastest Lego Technic 42069 RC mod with wheels & 4 buggy motors

This is my third and last Lego 42069 Extreme Adventure remote control mod. After the Superleggera mod I did not plan to create another one but I was convinced by some comments on my YouTube channel (thanks for the tip!). Although I really liked 42069 on tracks, I realized that the top speed was limited by the construction so the 4 buggy motors could not show their full potential. I removed the tracks and added the wheels from the 9398 Crawler set.
The pickup-style body was kept from the previous mod to ensure the car is as light as possible. The axles were rebuilt completely to fit the buggy motors and the wheels.

Lego Technic 42069 Superleggera RC mod – buggy motors & BuWizz

After my first RC mod of the 42069 set I wanted to build something faster 🙂 The plan was fairly simple – remove every non-vital part (including the fake V8, sorry), streamline the body as well, finally add 4 buggy motors and 2 BuWizz units. The result is pretty fast considering the size and the tracked wheels, check out the video:

Lego Technic 42069 rc mod partial building instructions

Originally I did not plan to create any building instructions for this mod as the motorization was an ad-hoc process, tried to replace the manual parts while keeping the original structure as intact as possible. Since I received so many requests to provide instructions, I try to help you and took a series of pictures while disassembling the model. Please note that this video is far from being a complete guide – it shows how to build the 2 axles and provides some additional hints on the placement of the M motors.

If you’re looking for 3d files or additional ideas to motorize this set, I suggest you to check this topic on Eurobricks, it already has some great content and I’m sure it will have more.

Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.

I don’t think 42069 would need a wheel swap to look cool, you just need to find the terrain where rubber won’t work 🙂 Ideal vehicle to explore Mustafar 🙂

I re-used the scene built for the Star Wars motors, 42069 fits here perfectly.

Lego Technic 42069 RC mod with Power Functions and SBrick

After building the 42069 Extreme Adventure set the next challenge was to motorize it. Luckily the set has a spacious internal structure, it is pretty easy to squeeze in several Power Functions components. The aim was to add the Power Functions parts without taking apart the set completely or to change the original structure, so obviously there are more elegant ways to hide all the motors and to upgrade the suspension and the drive train. The list of the added elements:
